Some Minor But Important Updates

We've updated a few of the tools in NextComp based on feedback we've received over the last few weeks.

  • The "Export Matches" tool has been updated to properly export the data to Excel.
  • We've added a feature to the "Copy Pay Plan" wizard so that the job summaries for your organization will copy over correctly to the new pay plan.
  • And finally, we've updated the back-end queries for Reports 16, 17, 18, and 18.1 so that the overall totals by Grade/Level and Pay Plan will consistently appear on the reports.

QA Reports - Survey Data Loading

We've just pushed a new reporting tool for proofing the import of survey data.

You can access the new quality assurance reports from the Import/Export Data page...

Choose the QA Reports tool...

Select the survey from the list and choose a report to view...

The reports open in Excel in the same column order as the data import template...

This tool is also available in Step 4 of the Survey Data Import Wizard

E-mail Server Upgrade

As part of our effort to upgrade our systems, which included the move of our servers to a new data center last weekend, we have upgraded our e-mail server. As a result, our server was down for a period from about 10:00 PM last night to around 2:00 PM today. This didn't effect the NextComp system in any way, but if you tried to send an e-mail to us, you may have received a "bounce back" with an error.

We now have a brand new e-mail system which provides us more flexibility, reliability and access.

If you live in the Northwest you'll remember the extended power outage of December 2006. This data center didn't lose power during that time because of the backup generator. They also didn't lose their Internet connection during that time.

I'm very excited that the servers are now located in such a high quality, state-of-the-art data center.

NextComp is noticeably quicker now. The Start Page loads faster, survey searches are faster, and Market Pricing is faster. NextComp is connected to a much faster Internet hub, which results in a faster overall experience with the application. In addition, NextComp servers will run cooler in the new data center which also helps with overall performance.

I'll continue posting updates on NextComp developments as we have information ready to share. We're preparing for the May 2008 WorldatWork conference.
