Seattle Area Subscriber Group Meeting & Photo Friday

Mark your calendars for Monday, September 24th!

We have a room reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn in Issaquah, Wa. for our Subscriber Group meeting. The meeting is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM and run no later than 3:30 PM. A continental breakfast will be provided along with a very nice lunch. We'll be covering a lot of ground related to NextComp, CompModel, our salary planning application and other areas of interest to you. Elliott Miller and Kelly Christison will be in attendance as well, so you can meet some of the other faces behind the scenes at NextComp.

I still have a glow from my visit to Boston so here are a couple more pictures from that trip.

Back in my neck of the woods, I know it's late summer when the fruit trees are heavy with fruit. These were taken at a park not more than 200 yards from my office.

Boston Subscriber Meeting Wrap-up (and Photo Friday)

We had a great subscriber meeting yesterday. Thank you to all of you that attended the meeting. Thank you also to New Balance Shoes for hosting the meeting on-site. I'll be posting links to our presentation and the interview with Elliott later this weekend. In the meantime, here are some photos from our trip.

Here are a couple photos from the New Balance Shoes headquarters.

And what's a trip to Boston without a visit to Fenway Park. The Red Sox had a double-header. They won the first game and lost the second game. That's a lot of red!

I have a lot more but I still need to process them and upload them.

We've been busy at work this week getting ready for next Friday's Boston Subscriber meeting. Besides our normal work load, we've been preparing a short demo of NextComp Gamma. We had hoped to have some screen shots ready today, but it looks like those will be ready over the weekend. I'm excited to share our new application design. As you can see we're devoting a lot of time to discussion. We really want to hear your input as we continue to support and develop NextComp. And yes, we will be having a Subscriber Meeting in the Seattle area as well, probably in mid-September. We'll post more information about that meeting next week.

We chose Boston and Seattle for our Subscriber Meetings due to the concentration of subscribers in those cities. We love to hear from all of our subscribers, so drop me a line at matt@nextcomp.net if you have any comments, questions or concerns.

And here's the photo of the week taken during a camping trip that I went on last weekend with my four kids and our dog. Wow, it was a beautiful location in the Cascade Mountain range.

Photo Friday

So I'm making a commitment to update the blog on a more regular basis.
I think having some regular features, such as a "photo Friday" will help keep me on task.

Sunny Summer Day (Active Assignment Weekly)

Here's a view of Mt Si in North Bend, Washington (my home town). It was a super sunny nice day. I love big fluffy white clouds in the Summer. It reminds me of being a kid laying on the grass looking up at the sky imagining dragons, pigs, and all sorts of other creatures floating along above me.

On a NextComp note, Elliott and I have a version of NextComp Gamma up and running. Some months ago we posted that we were developing a new version of NextComp using the latest in Web 2.0 technology. We originally envisioned using Java and all sorts of open source software to create Gamma. Well, it turns out that we are really ingrained in Microsoft technology and making the switch to Java was just too much of a resource strain. So we are developing Gamma in .NET using the recently released version 3.0 with the AJAX extensions. If you don't know what AJAX is that's understandable. Basically AJAX makes websites work more like desktop applications.

We will have a demo of Gamma ready by August 17th to share with everyone. It's going to be a bit of a limited demo showing the Search Surveys page, but it will be exciting as there are some new features in Gamma that will make life easier for survey matching.

Until the next post, have a great weekend!

Matt
